Multiple weather systems are joining together for a long spell of typical pre-monsoonal hazardous conditions over many parts of the country. The activity may not be simultaneous over different parts and rotate largely between the northern, central and eastern region of the country. The prolonged and spread out weather will keep the heat at bay, at least during the first half of April.

There are two western disturbances moving across the northern parts between 02nd and 08th April. Their support circulations over the plains will travel from across the border to sweep the Indo-Gangetic plains. A long north-south oriented longitudinal band of clouds, now extending from North Afghanistan to Northeast Arabian Sea, will increase the expanse and activity attached with the weather systems.

Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi will have two rounds of weather activity between 03rd & 05th April and 07th & 08th April 2026. On first two days, there will be fairly wide spread rain and thundershowers over Punjab, Haryana, North & Central Rajasthan, Delhi and North Madhya Pradesh. On 05th Apr, the weather activity will shrink and cover northern parts of Punjab & Haryana, and outers of Delhi. It will vacate Rajasthan and North Madhya Pradesh. The weather activity will return back to these areas, once again between 07th & 08th April and cover South and West Rajasthan also. Hailstorm incidents are quite likely over some parts during the entire period between 03rd and 08th April.

East MP, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh will have the weather activity between 06th and 08th April. North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha will be at risk of strong thunderstorm accompanied with hailstorm on 06th and 07th April 2026.

West Bengal, Northeast India will be swept by rain and thundershowers between 07th and 09th April. The southern parts of Northeast region, more favourably, Meghalaya and Tripura will continue to have intense thundershowers on 10th and 11th April, as well.

Maharashtra will have scattered rain and thundershowers, with isolated hailstorm, over land locked sub-divisions between 02nd and 05th April. Vidarbha and Marathwada will remain the preferred pockets. Mumbai may have very light rainfall late night and tomorrow.

South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu will have the pre-monsoon showers between 06th and 08th April. The spread will shrink on 09th and 10th for the region but will cover additional parts of Kerala and South interior Karnataka.

Karnataka will have the least weather activity during this prolonged spell. Even state of Gujarat will remain weather free after 03rd April. Weather activity will reduce substantially over most parts on 09th April. A broad clearance over the country, outside Northeast India and extreme Southern Peninsula is likely on and after 09th April. Heat wave will remain in abeyance over large parts of the country during first half of April.
