The Weather Systems Over The Country
The low-pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Odisha-West Bengal coast persists over the same region. The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level and is tilting southwestward with height. It is expected to intensify into a well-marked low-pressure area and move northwestwards across North Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal during the next 12 hours.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level is passing through Amritsar, Dehradun, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Patna, Bankura, the centre of the low-pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal, and then extends southeastwards into the East-Central Bay of Bengal.
A western disturbance, seen as a cyclonic circulation over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu, is positioned between 4.5 km and 5.8 km above mean sea level.
A cyclonic circulation is present over Northwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas at 0.9 km above mean sea level.
Another cyclonic circulation is over East Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Bihar, extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.
A cyclonic circulation persists over East Assam.
